This continues the series of blog posts on the release of "Dublin," which is set to continue for the next little while, as we tweak and change the systems. As promised, we want to ensure you get details before they happen. If you thought that Tuesday's user-interface update release was the end of "Dublin," that's not the case. We still have some fairly important things to get out of the ever-growing Empire Avenue Labs that have been deemed "Dublin" ready.
We haven't talked much about the Empire Avenue API (that thing which allows coders everywhere to access our systems and write their own applications). We released the first version soon after the release of the site in March, then we completely rewrote it and released it with nicer docs and expanded functionality in late April. However, it never really gave enough data for third-party developers to really get cracking on stellar applications. We expect that, with "Dublin," the API will turn a corner toward the vision we have here at Empire Avenue.
Community development and engagement is very important to us. We see some incredibly passionate people poring over the API calls that we have provided to date and who have started on the road to great app development. Such community apps will be beneficial to Empire Avenue, the developer and the community in general, and we are eager to see what wonders you will come up with… can you say, “mobile apps”? Okay, let's get down to business.
On Monday, we will release several new calls to the API and, most importantly, will allow you to remotely buy and sell through the API. As I write this, we are in the final stages of testing, so please understand if one or two of the following calls do not make the cut, or if additional calls end up in the final Monday list! Here’s what’s currently planned for the Monday API release:
* Your dividend history
* Dividends received from someone else over time
* Share price history
* Share purchase history, overall, as well as for specific users
* Adding and removing to/from Lists
* Setting Interests and Brands
* Setting a status
* Buying and selling shares
* Getting trades
* Setting and fulfilling trades
We can't wait to see what you make of this API.
For those developers out there, I strongly encourage you to join our <a href="http://apidocs.empireavenue.com"Developer Mailing lists and check out the doc site!
More details on "Dublin" yet to come :)
